The Ballet School and Parsons Dance are pleased to announce that they have created a partnership and will be opening A Dance Space in Stamford Town Center. The result will be an exciting new program for Dance and Fairfield County.
The partnership with Parson Dance will bring new opportunities for our students. This move will enable us to fulfill our mission to create healthy, well-rounded dancers. Creating new studios at Stamford Town Center brings us back downtown. The Ballet School was founded in 1998 as a non-profit organization with a mission to foster the art of ballet. The current student body reflects the diverse backgrounds of its Fairfield County community. The school has earned a reputation of nurturing young dancers through a disciplined and focused training program that brings out the best of their natural talent. The faculty is a dedicated and knowledgeable group of professionals who are passionate about teaching. "Dance for All,” the school’s foundational outreach program, provides training opportunities for all students and has enabled over 20,000 youth to attend the school’s annual Spring production at Stamford’s Palace Theatre.
The Ballet School will offer more than 40 leveled classes per week in ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, musical theater for children aged three and older. Placement classes can be arranged by calling 203-253-1190.
Our new partner, Parsons Dance a contemporary American dance company based in New York City, is internationally renowned for its energized, athletic ensemble work. Founded in 1985 by Artistic Director David Parsons and Tony Award-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley, the company has toured to more than 445 cities, 30 countries, and 5 continents and has performed at such notable venues as The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Sydney Opera House, Maison de la Danse, Teatro La Fenice, and Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro.
Parsons Dance is committed to providing enriching experiences beyond its performances as it seeks to engage audiences of all ages through education and outreach programs; through post-show discussions, open rehearsals, studio showcases, video workshops, open company classes, summer workshops for pre-professional dancers; and in-school workshops for public school students. The company is especially proud of an initiative that it launched in 2016--Autism-Friendly Programs, featuring sensory-friendly workshops and relaxed performances for audiences of all abilities.
All these activities are driven by the vision of Artistic Director David Parsons, who, for more than 30 years, has combined his choreographic gifts and talent for training highly skilled dancers with a real passion for the art form.
